Dr. Rose is a Diamond Trainer for Abydos Learning International. The 12 day hybrid or online writing institute delivers transformational experience that involves teachers in teaching writing as a process. Explicit classroom routines and strategies give teachers solutions and concrete responses to implement Reading and Writing standards. In the summer of 21-22, two 12 day virtual cohorts are launching. As a teacher consultant for the National Writing project and their C3WP project, Dr. Rose can provide a TOT model for your leaders or provide the training itself for your teachers.
This intensive professional development program provides teachers with instructional resources, skills, and formative assessment tools for the teaching of evidence-based argument writing. Teachers participate in 45 hours of professional development per year for one or two years, experiencing instructional materials of the highest quality, learning to analyze student work carefully to determine instructional next steps, and leading their students towards active participation in their communities through argument writing.

Learn and practice an enhanced prewriting routine to increase both holistic and analytic writing rubric scores. Pilot sites report that students who were scoring at 0 and 1 are consistently writing 2's. Students who have been stuck at 2's are now making 3's. Strategies for reading on assessments must work for all reading acts. Our state data explains that our students struggle with inference, summary, and reader response. Feedback improves learning. Recent research provides a decision making model teachers can use to analyze student products and plan a response. Specific feedback characteristics and stances help the student internalize and apply the feedback to current and new situations. In this learning experience, teachers use their own student products and performances to craft a feedback cycle.
